Much More than Just a Place To Stay
On December 6th, 2021, Next House Copenhagen opened its doors to a new, extraordinary hostel experience with a sustainable mindset.
What previously formed the premises for Falck A/S has now been transformed into a luxury hostel, where the raw industrial structure has been preserved.
Next House Copenhagen has 433 rooms and 1,667 beds. It is part of the Arp-Hansen Hotel Group, which consists of privately-owned, centrally-located hotels in Copenhagen and Aarhus.
Next House Copenhagen is the group’s second hostel, and here too, the emphasis is on uniqueness and a special luxurious level that sets entirely new standards for what you can expect to experience at a hostel.
Here you will encounter luxurious lines and designs in a balanced fusion of raw elements, specially selected interiors and soft textures. Nevertheless, what makes Next House Copenhagen so unique? Follow along to find out!
A Sustainable Mindset
We have a passion for sustainability, so when we say we run our hostel with care, we mean it. Therefore, it was crucial for us to create the lowest possible climate impact in both the construction and operational phases.
Our goal is to achieve the highest environmental certification, DGNB, and it is our clear mission to fulfill this.
Green plants inside as well as outside embrace the building, and the brass facade is adorned with a plant wall that runs all the way from the top floor to the sidewalk. On the roof, there are solar panels that contribute to the electricity in the house.
We have established a green oasis on the 6th-floor rooftop terrace with room for community under the open sky. The terrace has lush vegetation with trees, flowers, bushes, and herbs that contribute to a greener metropolis.
The rooftop terrace is dedicated to coziness and togetherness, and offers various events and live music during the summer season.
There’s more to Next House Copenhagen than meets the eye…
You might be here for the community vibes, the central location, or the awesome facilities. And we get it – who wouldn’t?
But Next House has more going on behind the scenes. When we built it, we didn’t just think about looks or location – we thought about impact.
That’s why we carefully selected low-impact materials, smart energy solutions, and a design that’s both durable and stylish.
And it paid off: we’re proud to be DGNB Gold-certified with a Diamond distinction – a recognition that highlights responsible construction, thoughtful design, and a better experience for everyone who stays here.
Okay… but what does DGNB Gold actually mean?
In short: it’s a big thumbs-up for making sustainability part of everything – from the building materials and energy use to design and social responsibility.
DGNB Gold is awarded to buildings that score high in six sustainability areas: environment, economy, social aspects, technology, processes, and local impact.
The Diamond is an extra badge of honour for buildings that go all in on design and architecture – where function, durability, aesthetics, and sustainability all come together.
So, what does that mean for you as a guest?
You might not notice it right away – but the building you're staying in was created with:
- A healthy indoor climate, with fresh air and natural light
- Materials chosen with care for both people and the planet
- Lower environmental impact – both during construction and in daily operations
If you want to see the world without leaving a heavy footprint, it takes some smart choices along the way.
Staying at Next House Copenhagen is one of them. We’re in this together, doing our best – and helping you make responsible choices. And we’re pretty proud of that.

Old Love Never Dies...
How do you describe an atmosphere that has to be experienced before it reaches its full potential?
For us, accommodation is not just a room and a bed – in fact, you are right in the heart of an energetic space with a life of its own, a unique atmosphere and a unique culture that will blow the most people away.
A community where you meet people from all over the world, and where well-traveled, experienced, and friendly people are behind the reception.
Next House Copenhagen has edge and a style and atmosphere that is lively, warm and unique. We combine the charm of the past with the style of the present to create a balance between tradition and innovation in our decor.
Together, they create the universe that we at Next House Copenhagen love so much.
In the lobby hangs a beautiful specimen of a Nimbus – Denmark’s only serially produced motorcycle, which was produced from 1919 to 1960 by ’Fisker and Nielsen’.
Nimbus is known for its unique, spacious riding comfort and reliable technology, and was produced in two different versions – both with a 4-cylinder in-line engine of 750 cc.
Until about 20 years ago, Denmark was bustling with Nimbus sidecars, where the police, postal service, defense, and countless courier companies and small craft businesses used them.
It tells stories of dreams and aspirations and the car is now given new life at Next House Copenhagen – because old love never dies. You can read more about the history here.
If you continue on to the bar, you will encounter a Morgan Plus 4 from 1964. It is a car with character that stands out from the crowd with its elegant and timeless expression.
The car is from a time when vehicles were built with great care and attention to detail. Morgan cars are valuable for preservation, culture, and historical artifacts that provide a unique insight into the technological and social history of the time they were built.
What is special about the Morgan Plus 4 is that wood has been used in their construction for a century and is still used today to frame the body. It has mechanical reliability and durability. The waiting list for a car is long because the cars are hand-assembled.
Some have waited up to 10 years. Only a limited number of cars are made each year, making the Morgan Plus 4 a rarity. You can definitely lift your spirits, because here with us, you can actually sit in one.
A World of Unique Artworks
At Next House Copenhagen, you can explore captivating and unique artworks.
Every detail is carefully selected and painted to perfection by emerging new talented artists and established artists.
At Next House Copenhagen, we want to support and promote young, talented artists’ careers.
Therefore, we challenged six graduates from Charlottenborg Art Hall to create artworks that fit our hostel and arouse curiosity and reflection among our guests.
The assessment and selection of the three best works were in the hands of professor and sculptor, Bjørn Nørgaard, and they can now be seen at Next House Copenhagen.
If you are wondering what inspired the artists behind these impressive works?
Bjørn Nørgaard: An Impressive Artist
Experience the impressive Bjørn Nørgaard, one of Denmark’s most significant sculptors and performance artists.
As a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he has made his mark in both Danish and international art history with monumental works such as Børsaktionen (1969), Hesteofringen (1970), Gobelinerne (1988-2000), Bispebjerg Bakke (1997-2007), Dronningens Sarkofag (2003-2018), and many other impressive artworks over the past 60 years.
You can even see one of his works at our sister hotel, Tivoli Hotel, where he has created a statue of H.C. Andersen.
Meditative Artworks
Experience David Utzon’s and Ege Arp-Hansen’s artworks, which are exhibited to stimulate your imagination and create a meditative experience.
These artworks are designed to create a lively atmosphere with an artistic touch that will add an extra dimension to your experience at Next House Copenhagen.
